Just upgraded my kit, picked up a Velocity rod paired with a Guru S reel. I’m new to fly fishing and had been using an entry level kit until I the tip section fold in half on me. It was a decent kit to start, but it was clear I had moved past its capabilities. As I began researching my next kit, Lamson moved to the top of my list after talking to a couple local shops, reviews online along with some video reviews. I found my selected kit at a local shop and was surprised to find the reel on clearance price. I am loving my new kit and have had it on the local rivers a couple times now. It’s a night and day difference using high quality kit for a beginner. Thank you for the quality equipment at an affordable price.

I love this reel. It’s light-weight, has a solid strong drag, looks great, retrieves great and at this price ($209) is probably the best reel on the market for the money. With other brands you’d need to spend double or more to get this quality in a fully machined reel.

I have my Guru S -5+ on my R.L. Winston Kairos 5WT. Just two days ago I caught 2 five+ pound German Browns and 1 3+ pound German Brown. I’ve never had drag worked like that by a fish. These hawgs ran up and down the river and this reel performed beautifully!!!

Just took delivery of a Guru S 7+ following a recommendation by a ghillie friend of mine on the River Thurso. Not used yet, but a lovely looking reel. Will be pairing it with a bespoke 6/7# Switch rod said ghillie is currently making for me on a Fireneedle blank.
