M8...It's BIG!

The retrieve rate is awesome. The drag will stop a Mack truck! No fish that makes a significant run is safe. It was made for stopping bonefish on the flats of the Bahamas and the Keys!

Great Reel

With a fantastic drag, and an unusually large line recovery per rotation of nearly 15 inches, this reel is perfect for fishing hard running fish like bonefish, permit, trevally and barracuda. I was able to put plenty of backing on the reel along with a very good 8 wt line. I have exercised the drag several times and it has showed no sign of weakness. Can’t wait to go catch a bunch of bonefish and triggers on it soon.

Hello,I am looking to buy this reel for Atlantic salmon.I was going to buy a 9 weight of this but they don’t seem to have any.if yous would make a 9 weight of this it would be pleasing.And also is the Lamson speedster-midnight, good for salmon?

The Hyperspeed M8 is a single size super large arbor, light weight reel. It is essentially the same size diameter as our Litespeed M12 wt. but with 8 wt. capacity and tall, narrow profile. With a capacity of 250yrds 20# Dacron you could either reduce the amount of backing or use gel-spun and absolutely fish a 9wt line on this reel (in a standard weight forward line).

Yes, the Speedster S is a great reel for salmon in either the standard or HD format.

I have the guru the guru HD the spessdster HD all have proformed against the biggest king and coho salmon in a 9 weight if this reel were to come out in a 9 or 10 weight and retrieve faster and have a better smoother drag sign me up boys something I am looking to start doing is wetting flies in the surf for breaking strippers as I’ve seen people doing more and more so the idea of 1 rod and real that can do both for me would be very salty I would be very interested in that if you deside to put that product out there
