Could not be happier with the redesigned reel. Both the new drag knob & full cage were exactly what I was interested in. The louder tones were an added pleasant surprise. This one many Lamson reels in that I own. All are an outstanding product.

Made extremely well and professional grade

Straight out of the tube I was impressed. The rod is nicely finished with small details like dots for quick setup your rod nice and straight. The reel is a beast and as a lefty it is always appreciated when a company makes it easy to reverse the retrieval. Unfortunately I can't speak to its fish catching ability yet, but I have set the reel up with a SA 8wt Sonar full sink line and casted it in the backyard. It throws line as expected for a 8wt and I can't wait to take it on the Sac for stripers!

I have used Lamson reels for years and the Purist 2 legacy reel is perfect for lightweight fly fishing with a bamboo fly rod on small streams. I needed a spare spool and found the Purist 2 Legacy spool on the Lamson site - Excellent spool that fits the original frame perfectly. Highly recommended and fast service.

I paired my lightspeed with a 5wt RL Winston and it was unbelievable. The weight distribution was perfect. Landed 2 large brown trout in the Allegheny River. The drag works amazingly smooth and takes up line extremely fast. I would definitely recommend this reel to anyone who wants a superb American quality product. I give it a 12 out of 10!!!

I've been fly fishing my entire life and guiding professionally for the last 8. These reels are the best bang for your buck and are my go to guide reels. For the price you cannot find a smoother drag, more durable reel on the market. It's the perfect reel to get you on the water. I'm slowly upgrading all of my guide rods to have these reels. If you're on the fence, just get one and see what I'm talking about!

I use the Big Bug size for bonefish. Great for keeping them wet.

I tried this rod out at an expo and was instantly hooked. It felt amazing in my hands and the fast action made casting a dream.

Great reel. Drag is simple. My only gripe is no reel pouch. I got a little drawstring baggy thingy but no pouch with Velcro lid. I’d knock off a half star for that but I’m rounding up to a 5. Lamson, just go the extra step and provide an actual reel pouch.

This is a great reel. The large arbor and weight are fantastic, and the color is nice, too. I have owned an M8 for about two years, and it is my primary bonefish reel. I have tested it on a 9wt, one step above its rating, and it performed well on things like permit and small tarpon.
I look forward to using it in CXI in a few months. For what its worth, I like it enough that I am seriously considering getting an M10 in the coming weeks.

For being produced overseas, this is a good product. Although I have not switched the spool yet to see if it fits. This is a nice addition to keep the rods spooled with various lines. Its lightweight design should make it a durable spool for years to come. Look forward to catching many fish after the ice clears.
